The accident occurred on Friday afternoon near Bindravana Tola village, along the Gondia-Arjuni road, when a Maharashtra State Transport bus overturned. The bus, travelling from Nagpur to Gondia, had over 40 passengers on board at the time of the incident.

The deceased included a 32-year-old woman police personnel, identified as Smita Suryavanshi from Morgaon in Gondia, police said

The incident took place in Bindravana Tola village on the Gondia-Arjuni road in the Gondia district. The bus left Nagpur and was headed to Gondia.

The bus, part of the "Shiv Shahi" service, was carrying 36 passengers and was en route from Bhandara to Gondia when the driver lost control while attempting to overtake another vehicle.

An unidentified police officer said that the driver lost control of the vehicle near Bindravana Tola village on the Gondia-Arjuni road.

As many as nine people died and around 30 people were injured after a bus accident in Gondia, Maharashtra, on Friday.
